Que. What are the essential criteria for appearing in NDA examinations?
Ans. Any student belonging to the age group of 16.5 to 19.5 is eligible to sit in the NDA examinations (appearing or have appeared in +2 exams). Students can avail up to six attempts to clear the exam.
For Girls, graduation is a requirement, and they can choose from any one of the three streams (depending on their +2 Subjects).
Candidates with a married status are also not eligible for applying. Tattoos are not acceptable (except on the inside face of the forearms, non-significant). There are also physical and mental criteria that applicants must fulfill, with a few relaxations for Gorkhas and Aspirants belonging to northeastern hills of India, Garwal, Kumaon, and Lakshadweep.
Que. Are Arts/ Medical, etc., students eligible for NDA?
Ans. You are eligible for NDA regardless of your stream in +2, but since mathematics is an essential subject for clearing the test, you must be proficient up to NDA entrance standards of Mathematics.
Que. When are NDA examinations held?
Ans. The NDA exams are held biannually, once in April and once in September. For the year 2023, the NDA 1 exam will be held on 16th April 2023, and the NDA 2 exam will be held on 3rd September 2023. The SSB interviews are generally held from to September for NDA 1 and NDA 2 from January to April.
Que. What is the cutoff for NDA exams?
Ans. The cutoff differs due to the dynamic change each year. It is calculated based on three factors, namely, the number of test-takers, total vacancies, and exam difficulty.The projected cutoff for the year is 350-360 (25% in each subject), with the final cutoff of 709-719.
Que. How many students are enrolled in NDA each year?
Ans. NDA enrolls about 415 students, and there are 208 seats allotted for the Indian Army, 92 seats for the Indian Air force, and 60 seats for the Indian Navy, along with 55 seats for the Indian Naval Academy through the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme.
Que. How long is the journey to officership after clearing the NDA exams?
Ans. After the appearing student has made it into the merit list, he/ she has to undergo four years of training before he/she can become an officer. Three years are for completing the Bachelor’s course, and after that, a year of specialisation concludes the four-year journey to officership of a candidate.
